A Limited edition print celebrating Roger Bannister's historic sub-4:00 minute mile run at Iffley Road track in Oxford in 1954. At a glance it could be mistaken for an abstract, but there are a few homages to the historic record hidden amongst the tracklines. The same omega stopwatch that was used to time the event is hidden in the upper right, along with a rose in the top left and the hidden text across the field says:
3:59.4
6 May 1964
Iffley Road
apres moi,
le deluge
Upon finishing the historic race Bannister said, "Après moi, le déluge", which translates to "after me, the flood" alluding to the athletes who would follow in Bannister's footsteps in breaking this once impossible barrier.
This is a limited run of 50 prints on a heavy #120 linen paper, hand signed and numbered.
Printed by Letter Press in Portland.
